For nearly 50 years, Valmont Utility has been serving the power transmission industry. Here’s a brief look at how we’ve grown over the years:
Valmont developed a high-speed, resistance welding for tubular projects led directly to the manufacture of tapered tubes for outdoor lighting, traffic signals and, eventually, electric utility structures.
Valmont expanded into the manufacture of large tubular structures for the electric utility industry.
Sensing the international opportunity in infrastructure (including the electric utility industry), Valmont started to embark on global expansion by investing in the French steel and aluminum lighting markets.
Valmont acquired a manufacturer of utility poles – Energy Steel Corporation.
In 2004, Valmont acquired Newmark International, a manufacturer of concrete utility poles.
Steve Kaniewski named as president of Valmont Utility. Steve would go on to be named president and CEO of Valmont Industries in 2017.
Valmont Utility names Chris Colwell president. A role he continues to serve in today.
