Valmont Utility poles can be designed, fabricated and ordered as steel, concrete or as a combination of concrete and steel, in any height and strength. All orders are shipped to work sites in easy-to-handle sections. This enables customization of any line segment with structures that are optimally suited for the environment, thus creating a line that is more cost effective, aesthetically pleasing, durable, and aligned for optimum structure spacing. Our transmission poles are also easily modified in the field, making them easy to reconfigure (if needed).

Exceptional Ease of Installation
When compared to other structures, the speed and ease of installation of Valmont Utility steel, concrete and hybrid poles are proven winners. Valmont Utility steel transmission poles can be pre-drilled upon request, to accommodate special customer requirements. Most concrete poles ship as a single piece directly to the pole site.
Uniform Material Strength for Consistent, Reliable Transmission Pole Performance
Valmont Utility transmission poles provide a constant taper without wood twists, knots, splits or sweep, while providing uniform diameters. Steel and concrete also have uniform material strength throughout the entire structure, providing more consistent and predictable results than wood.
Being an inherently ductile material, steel tends to bend rather than break, resulting in structural reliability that reduces the chance of failure in the field. Utilizing pre-stressing in our concrete poles allow for a flexible structure that also reduces the chance of a failure, when compared to other materials.
Transmission Pole Maintenance Savings
After installing our poles, there's no need to re-tighten hardware later due to pole shrinkage as with wood. Concrete and steel retain their shape, orientation and strength and are not susceptible to damage by woodpeckers, insects, rot or fires.
Proven Corrosion Protection for Long-Life Transmission Pole Performance
A variety of finishes are available with steel, including galvanized, paint over galvanized (powder coat or liquid), dulled and darkened galvanizing, and weathering steel. Normally, our direct embedded spun concrete poles need no additional in-ground protection.
For direct embedded steel poles, Valmont Utility offers the TriFORCE™ coating system, which provides unsurpassed corrosion protection just above and below grade (ground level). The product innovation combines a proper duplex coating system with an advanced application process that creates an exceptionally high level of defense to combat corrosion.
